What to note while planning the Big 5 experience in Kenya Safari

Knowing what to wear on safari is crucial, and certain items must be included on any packing list for a safari in Kenya since they are just vital. When deciding what to dress to Africa, comfort, easiness, colors, temperatures, and style are the most crucial factors to take into account. To the best of your ability, try to fit in with the surroundings and be at ease throughout all the activities.

What to Wear

When choosing clothes to wear on safari to Kenya, use safari-themed colors like grey, khaki, beige, or taupe. These colors are dull and blend well with the environment. Avoid wearing bright clothes with colors like blue, red, orange, pink and yellow. Black and dark blue attract tse tse flies and predators identify red with wounded animals. White sisn’t recommended to wear when going out to the field.

For the evenings and game drives, pack light clothes including t-shirts. For the evening, you should wear shorts and light t-shirts when it’s in the dry season and always carry a sweater for the cold evenings.

Always wear long sleeves and long pants for activities like nature walks and all others that involve walking through the forest. Wearing long sleeves and pants is advised because you’ll be walking through a jungle where insects can sting you terribly. Wear shirts, long enough to cover your hands to the wrist and trousers long enough to be tucked into your stocking. Shorts and vests are not anything to think of when planning to go on a walking safari. Also, the long clothing should be comfortable, thick, and in colors that are difficult to stain.

Shoes/footwear

The shoes and other footwear should receive serious consideration on your packing list. For most of the safari game drives sandals and open shoes can be wore since the game drive is in the vehicle and you won’t have to get out and walk. Hiking boots are necessary for activities like walking or trekking, though.

In order to make hiking easier and prevent bruising, make sure you use comfortable hiking shoes. Put on cotton stockings inside to protect your ankles and keep your legs warm. Before you leave on your trip, it is advised that you try your shoes by jogging in the morning.
