9 Days Uganda Primates Tour: Overview

Kibale national park was gazette in 1932 and formally established in 1993 to protect the large forest area. It contains one of the loveliest and most varied ecosystems. Kibale national park is also one of Africa’s foremost research sites with several researchers focusing on the primates and animals found within the park.

At this park, you will encounter Chimpanzees, Monkeys, birds, butterflies, and many lovely creatures. The park is the home to over 70 mammals, 13 primate species, and 375 species of birds.

Queen Elizabeth national park is the second oldest and largest national park in Uganda, it was established in 1952. This Park was initially known as Kazinga national park but was later renamed in commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II and hosts over 95 species of mammals as well as over 619 bird species. This park lies within the western rift valley.

Bwindi Impenetrable national park is unique for its abundance in majestic Mountain Gorillas. This area was gazetted as a national park in 1994 and the Mubare gorilla group was the original Gorilla group open for tourism but has been joined by 8 other groups over time and there are currently 9 groups inhabiting the impenetrable forests of Bwindi.  A fun fact about Bwindi Impenetrable national park is that this park is the source of five major rivers that flow into Lake Edward.

Lake Bunyonyi is a special lake because of the fact that it was formed as a result of Lava damning and is Africa’s second deepest lake as well as the home to over 200 bird species. Day 1 – Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Day 2 – Transfer from Kampala to Fort Portal City

Detailed 9 Days Uganda Primates Tour, Gorilla Trekking Safari, and Wildlife Experience

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda – Entebbe International Airport

On arrival, you will be received by one of our experienced tour guides who will ensure your smooth transfer to your hotel of preference in Kampala (FB).

Day 2: Transfer to Fort portal

Get up early and drive through Mubende-Mityana to “the tourism city of Uganda”. Fort portal has an extremely favorable climate and is known for its exquisite food.

Enjoy the colorful and beautiful environment of Fort Portal, the capital of Tooro Kingdom. Dinner and overnight at the lodge of your preference.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale forest national park

Get up early and transfer to Kibale Forest national park for an amazing primate experience. After a detailed and significant briefing, you will be led through the beautiful forest of Kibale national park on a quest to find the magnificent primates that inhibit Kibale.

On this search for Chimpanzees, you will see several monkeys such as; the black and white colobus monkey, Grey-cheeked Mangabey, Golden monkeys among others.

You will also see several seraphic birds chirping in the trees, Butterflies, and little insects. It takes you about 2 to 6 hours to locate the Chimpanzees which you will observe as they carry out their daily activities.

After lunch, you will take a trip to Bigodi wetlands for an interesting nature walk through the swamp. While on this adventure, you will see more animals such as; Red-tailed monkeys, Baboons, bush pigs, LHoests Monkeys, Otters, and others as well as bird species. You will also get the chance to meet some of the natives as they carry out their daily activities. Return to your lodge of preference for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

By Sunrise, you should be on the road to Queen Elizabeth national park. On arrival, Check into your lodge and settle in. After your lunch, go on a fascinating boat trip along the Kazinga channel where you spot crocodiles, Hippos, Elephants, Buffaloes, and many other animals by the shore.

You will also catch a sight of aquatic birds such as Fish Eagles, Kingfishers, Pelicans, Skimmers, Cormorants, Ibis, and many more. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Ishasha tree-climbing lions.

Get up early and take on an early morning game drive through the beautiful Queen Elizabeth national park. On this adventure, you will see several animals like Warthogs, Elephants, Lions, Leopards, Hyenas, Waterbucks, Kobs, Mongoose, and many others.

After lunch, drive to the Ishasha sector for the tree climbing Lions experience. In the evening, you will be able to spot these beautiful creatures within the trees. proceed to your lodge of preference for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

Early in the morning, start your drive to Bwindi Impenetrable national park, home to the Majestic Mountain Gorillas. Check into your lodge of preference on arrival and settle in.

After Lunch, visit and interact with the Local Batwa and Bafumbira communities. This experience allows you to observe the native communities as well as appreciate their cultures. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking.

Early Morning, transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing before you enter into the Gorilla Sanctuary of Bwindi Forest. The rainforest is spectacular as it offers a dramatic, heavily forested and dense landscape crisscrossed by numerous animal trails, allowing access for tourists.

This park is best known for the fascinating mountain Gorillas, where the time is taken and terrain varies according to the movements of the majestic primates. The thrill of spending time observing these animals’ daily activities is an exciting and rare adventure.

The Gorillas are peaceful creatures that can easily be aggravated but you will be briefed by your tour guide on how to behave around these enormous animals. After this amazing experience, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Lake Bunyonyi

Get up at ease and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, home to many small birds. You will drive through the beautiful terrain of the rolling hills with the terraced Landscape to Kabale also referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa”.

Pass by the Bakiga Museum for a beautiful cultural experience. After lunch at the Arcadia cottages, embark on an afternoon on the sparkling waters of Bunyonyi and enjoy a boat trip as well as fascinating myths about the area and its mysterious Islands. Return to your lodge of preference for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Departure

Wake up early and embark on your 9+ hour journey back to Kampala where you will transfer to Entebbe airport for your flight back home.
