Detailed 10 Days Uganda Rwanda Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Arrive in Entebbe (Uganda) and transfer to Kampala

Today we arrive at Entebbe International Airport (Uganda) and transfer a short distance to Kampala; the country’s capital for refreshment.

Dinner and Overnight at Cassia Lodge (Midrange), Lake Victoria Serena Luxury

Day 2: Transfer from Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park

You will be picked up by our guide after breakfast and will be transferred to Fort portal town close to Kibale Forest National Park.  You will enjoy the beautiful scenery enroute through villages, lush green forests and hills dotted with tea plantations.

You will have lunch in Fortpotal town and later proceed to the lodge for overnight and dinner.  You may have a chance to glance the Rwenzori Mountain glacial peaks at a distance.

You will have dinner and overnight stay at Kibale Forest Camp (Midrange), Ndali Lodge (Luxury)

Day 3 Chimpanzee tracking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you will gather at the park headquarters for briefing about chimp tracking by the park ranger guide. You will then proceed into the forest to track Chimpanzees and other primate species like the blue monkey, the red tailed, the black and white colobus, the red colobus and the vervet monkeys among others. You will also spot various birds.

You will return for lunch at the lodge and will have a guided walk-through Bigodi Swamp to view over 137 bird species, including the Snowy Headed Robin Chat, Black and White Casqued Hornbill, Emerald Cuckoo and a variety of weavers, warblers, green bulls and sunbirds. There is also an abundance of butterflies, and rich vegetation, such as wild palms, polita figs and the dominant papyrus.

You will then depart Kibale by road for Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will have dinner and overnight stay at Park View Safaris Lodge (Midrange), Mweya safari Lodge (Luxury)

Day 4 Queen Elizabeth National Park

Begin your wildlife experience in the park very early in the morning after breakfast with game drives along the Kasenyi trail. Expect predators including lions, leopard, Jackals and herbivores such as water-bucks, elephants, buffaloes and different antelope species.

In the afternoon you will enjoy a 2-hour boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel will make the biggest highlight in this park.

You will view various species of birds, crocodiles, hippos and bathing elephants among others.

Return in the evening to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 Queen Elizabeth National Park – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast, you will have a morning road trip through the Ishasha Plains as you search for the typical tree climbing Lions (among other things), a population which is found only in this part of the country. You will then have lunch enroute and proceed to Bwindi, arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 Gorilla tracking in Uganda

After breakfast, transfer to the park Headquarters in which you will be briefed about gorilla trekking.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is renowned for its impressive mountain gorillas, although it is unpredictable for how long you will track before finding them since it all depends on their movement.

You will set out with a packed lunch and enough drinking water, and you are advised to wear strong comfortable boots plus a light rain-jacket since the weather in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is highly unpredictable. You will be availed with Walking sticks by the park rangers. Visitors are allowed to spend only one hour with the gorillas for the purpose of conservation.

The ranger guide will brief you on how to conduct yourself while in the presence of the gentle giants. In the evening, proceed to the village for a cultural walk to interact with the local people and participate in captivating traditional performances.

Day 7 Transfer to Akagera National Park

After breakfast, you will be transferred by road to Akagera National Park in Rwanda. It is the only National Park with wildlife viewing in Rwanda. You will visit visit Musanze caves enroute. You will have lunch and resume driving thereafter arriving in Akagera late afternoon.

You will rest by the lodge in the evening.

You will have dinner and overnight stay at Akagera Game Lodge (Midrange), Ruzizi Tented Lodge (Luxury)

Day 8: Game drives and boat ride in Akagera National Park

After breakfast, you will start the day with a morning game drive through the park in search of lions, Elephants, Buffalos, Masai Giraffe and many others. You will return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon you will have another game drive through the park and will enjoy a boat-ride on Lake Ihema after. You will enjoy the sundowns at the lodge in the evening.

You will have dinner and overnight stay at Akagera Game Lodge (Midrange), Ruzizi Tented Lodge (Luxury)

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Kivu

You will have another morning game drive through the park and will then be transferred to Lake Kivu after breakfast. Lake Kivu boosts great beautiful sunset and sundown views.

You will have lunch enroute and will enjoy a boat ride on Lake Kivu in the afternoon and will relax on the sunny beaches of the scenic lake. You may also have an optional cultural walk to the fishing village in the evening.

Day 10 Transfer to Kigali

You will be transferred to Kigali after breakfast. You will enjoy a city tour and a visit to the Genocide Museum, opened in 2004 to mark the tenth anniversary of the Rwandan genocide. You will have lunch and will be transferred to the Airport for your departure.
